Hello! I'm Joan Martin, Chairman of the Erie Diocesan Catholic Committee on Boy Scouting. I welcome you into the new millennium with this web page of Catholic Scouting. I hope you find it informative, educational, interesting and for the Scouts, fun.

Within the thirteen counties of the Erie Diocese we have four Scout councils: Allegheny Highlands council with the council office situated in Falconer, New York; the Bucktail council office which is located in DuBois, PA.; the Chief Cornplanter council office in Warren, PA.; and the French Creek council in Erie, PA. More information about each of the councils can be found here.

We have many fun filled events such as annual Scout retreats and Cub Reverence Days. Plans for the future include a spiritual hike in the city of Erie, visiting numerous churches in the area.

Our goal in Scouting is to build strong values in our Scouts encouraging them to be the strong leaders of tomorrow. Our motto, "Character Counts", is proven in the statistics developed on our Scouting youth. Cub Scouting is based on fun with a purpose while in Boy Scouting the Scouts learn by doing. In Exploring and Venturing we have Adult? like activities that promote responsible leadership, social awareness, career exploration, personal fitness, outdoor fun, and service to others.

So explore our web pages and discover what Scouting can mean to you as an adult or as a Scout.

Yours in Scouting, Joan Martin
