What do you do when your child ignores a request from you? If this is a common problem, use the SET UP strategy:

Stoop – to get on your child’s level

Eye – make eye contact

Touch – your child on the shoulder to make physical contact

Use – direct language, “I want you to…”

Praise – acknowledge your child’s cooperation when he/she complies
