The Most Rev. Lawrence T. Persico, Bishop of Erie, has appointed clergy for the Diocese of Erie to new assignments. The full list of clergy assignments released this week can be found here or attached.
Catholic Foundation Offers Catholic Social Ministry Grant Opportunity
The Catholic Foundation of Northwest Pennsylvania is still accepting applications for its Catholic Social Ministry Grant opportunity through July 27. Those eligible to apply for these grants are Catholic 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations serving people within the 13 counties of the Diocese of Erie, departments of the Diocese of Erie and parishes. Each organization must have programs supporting family ministries, justice and peace, respect life, parish social ministry, ministry to persons with disabilities, or natural family planning. Feast of St. James special Mass and Picnic
Celebrate the Feast of St. James on Saturday, July 25, at St. James Parish, 7305 Third St., Driftwood. The celebration will include a special Mass with guest homilist Fr. Justin Pino, historian and archivist for the Diocese of Erie and pastor of St. Leo Magnus Parish in Ridgway. Following Mass, all are invited to a parish picnic. After the picnic, Fr. Pino will offer a special presentation in the church on the history of St. James Parish and its previous pastors. Pizza will be provided. Please bring a dish to share. Cursillo Picnic
The annual diocesan Cursillo Picnic will be held on Saturday, Aug. 1, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Our Lady of Peace picnic pavilion behind the school, 2401 W. 38th St., Erie. Bring a dish to share and a lawn chair. Chicken, hot dogs, corn, watermelon and beverages will be provided. Family members are welcome to attend. St. James Parish Rummage Sale
St. James Parish will host a Rummage Sale at the St. Mark Campus, 695 Smithson Ave., Erie, on Wednesday, Aug. 5, from 5 to 8 p.m.; Thursday, Aug. 6, from 2 to 6 p.m.; Friday, Aug. 7, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; and Saturday, Aug. 8, from 9 a.m. to noon. Millions of Monicas
- James Parish at the St. Mark Campus, 695 Smithson Ave., Erie, is hosting “Millions of Monicas,” a prayer movement for mothers whose children have drifted from the Catholic faith. Inspired by Saint Monica and the counsel to “tell God about your child,” women gather to pray in a simple yet powerful way. - Leo Magnus Parish, 111 Depot St., Ridgway, hosts the Millions of Monicas prayer ministry each Wednesday at 6 p.m. These weekly gatherings are dedicated to praying for the return of children and loved ones to the practice of the Catholic faith. All are welcome to join in prayer.
Vacation Bible School at Our Lady of Mercy
Step right up for The Greatest Show on Earth Vacation Bible School at Our Lady of Mercy, 837 Bartlett Rd., Harborcreek, July 27 through 31. Children ages 4 through those entering sixth grade are invited to enjoy a fun-filled week of faith, friendship and adventure. Vacation Bible School is free to attend. Catechesis of the Good Shepherd
Come discover a hands-on, immersive way for children ages 3 to 6 to encounter God. On Tuesday, Aug. 11, from 6 to 7 p.m. at the St. Mark Catholic Center cafeteria, 429 E. Grandview Blvd., Erie, families are invited to learn about Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, a Montessori-based religious formation program rooted in Sacred Scripture and the liturgy of the Church that invites children into a relationship with Christ the Good Shepherd. “Good Grief” The Gift of Grief seminar
Susan Schorsten, HM, will present The Gift of Grief Aug. 2-5 at the Villa Maria Retreat Center, 2067 Evergreen Rd., Villa Maria. During this retreat, Susan will explore what "good grief" is and how grief can be received as a gift that invites healing and growth. Participants will reflect on what grief is, why and how people grieve and the importance of both personal and communal grieving. Faith Formation Director - Full Time
The Catholic Parishes of Eastern Clearfield County — St. Agnes, St. Basil the Great and Christ the King — are seeking a full-time faith formation director.
