The Diocese of Erie Information Bulletin advertises and promotes activities and events sponsored by diocesan entities such as parishes, schools, religious communities and groups. The IB is unable to advertise or promote activities or events not sponsored by such entities. Submissions may run a maximum of two editions. The administrative offices of the diocese reserve the right to edit submissions.

2022 Peter’s Pence collection
Please find attached Bishop Lawrence Persico’s letter introducing the 2022 Peter’s Pence collection, to be taken the weekend of June 25-26. Parishes are asked to publicize this collection in a significant way on the weekend of June 18-19.
2023 confirmation schedule
The 2023 confirmation schedule in the Diocese of Erie is now available. Attached are two documents: one is a letter that was sent to pastors from the Office for Divine Worship; the second includes the dates for confirmations in 2023. Please contact the Office for Divine Worship at 814-824-1271 with any questions. If any changes are made in the confirmation schedule during the year, it will be updated at www.eriercd.org/bishop/worship.html.
Quo Vadis Days
Quo Vadis Days is a four-day camp for Catholic young men in grades 9-12 who are striving to follow God’s call in their lives. This is an excellent opportunity for those considering the priesthood or seminary formation or who are wondering if God is calling them to a religious vocation. Quo Vadis Days will be held July 24-27 at St. Mark Seminary in Erie. Please see the attached registration form and flier for further information. 2022 wedding anniversary celebrations
Diocesan anniversary celebrations for couples celebrating 25, 40, 50, 60 and 60-plus years of marriage in 2022 will be held in two locations in the Diocese of Erie:
- July 31 at St. Mary Parish, St. Marys, at 2 p.m.
- Aug. 7 at Holy Cross Parish, Fairview, at 2 p.m.
Couples interested in attending either event or simply receiving a scroll are asked to register, either by going to https://www.eriercd.org/familylifeoffice/anniv.html or filling out the attached hard copy. Parish staff are asked to print out the attached form so that it’s available in parish offices. All completed hard copy forms must be forwarded to the Marriage and Family Life Office of the Diocese of Erie either by mail, email or fax. Mail to St. Mark Catholic Center, C/O Faye Froess, 429 E. Divine Mercy Encounter (DME) retreat returns
Divine Mercy Encounter invites anyone 15 and older to make its upcoming onsite retreat on July 15-17. The weekend includes talks, exposure to different types of prayer, Mass, community and much more. The program runs from 10 a.m. on Friday to 5 p.m. on Sunday, with retreat participants staying at St. Joseph Parish/Bread of Life Community in Erie. REEF grant opportunity
The Religious Education Enrichment Fund (REEF) of the Diocese of Erie has already awarded more than $183,000 in 2022. Apply now to secure funding for a worthy project. Grant applications will be accepted through July 1, 2022, for the third-quarter award cycle. Three types of funding opportunities are available: 1) Creative Project for faith-based formation start-up projects; 2) Ministry Training for conferences, workshops and non-degree certificate courses; and 3) Leadership Training for professional education and training. Knights to sponsor 10K/5K race and walk on Fourth of July
Attention, all runners and walkers! Knights of Columbus Council #4071 is sponsoring a Liberty 10K/5K race and walk on Monday, July 4, at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 837 Bartlett Road, Harborcreek. Registration begins at 6:45 a.m., with the race starting promptly at 8 a.m. Register at www.runsignup.com or www.erierunners.club or you may register the day of the race in person. The fee on race day for the walk and race is $30 and $35, respectively. A free T-shirt will be given to the first 100 participants. Trophies will be presented to the first- and second-place finishers, and medallions will be awarded to all finishers. Refreshments will be provided. Sign up for Monumental Vacation Bible School
St. Mark the Evangelist and Mount Calvary parishes in Erie will host their Monumental Vacation Bible School at St. Mark the Evangelist Parish on July 11-15. Kids from pre-kindergarten to fifth grade are invited to attend as campers; those in sixth grade through 100 years old are welcome to sign up as leaders. Participants will enjoy many Bible-centered activities, treats and adventures. The program will run from 9 a.m. to noon each day. St. Mark and Mount Calvary parishes to hold mission
All are invited to a parish mission offered by St. Mark the Evangelist and Mount Calvary parishes in Erie on July 17-19 at St. Mark the Evangelist Church, 695 Smithson Ave., Erie. The mission, titled “Our Eucharistic Revival,” will be held under big tents beginning each night at 6 p.m. Father Chris Singer, chancellor of the Diocese of Erie, is the featured speaker.
