The Diocese of Erie Information Bulletin advertises and promotes activities and events sponsored by diocesan entities such as parishes, schools, religious communities and groups. The IB is unable to advertise or promote activities or events not sponsored by such entities. Submissions may run a maximum of two editions. The administrative offices of the diocese reserve the right to edit submissions.

2025 Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD)/Local Needs Collection
Please find attached a letter from Bishop Persico introducing the Local Needs Collection, previously known as the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD). This collection will be taken in all parishes the weekend of November 15 and 16. Parishes are asked to publicize the collection in a significant way the weekend prior, November 8 and 9.
Black Catholic History Month resources
November is recognized as Black Catholic History Month, a time when the Diocese of Erie joins Catholics across the nation in celebrating the rich faith and contributions of Black Catholics to the life of the church. The Office of Communications & Advancement has created a variety of materials to use throughout the month, including social media graphics, web banners, a prayer card and a bulletin graphic. A special resource microsite has also been developed, featuring educational links, family activities and ways to learn more about the seven Black Catholics from the United States currently on the path to sainthood. Please find attached the November issue of the Priest Prayer Calendar. This can be printed and added to your bulletins at the end of October, so they can be prayed for in November.

Walking the Journey of Love Overnight Retreat
You’re invited for a weekend of reflection, prayer and sharing at Olmsted Retreat Center, 17 E. Main St., Ludlow, on Nov. 1-2, from noon to noon. Walking the Journey of Love will be led by Sister Tina Geiger RSM, Sister Marian Wehler OSB, Sister Ann Muczynski OSB and Sister Colleen Leathley OSB. Comfort through Grief Ministry
St. Joseph/Bread of Life Parish will host the Comfort through Grief Ministry at the parish community center, 147 W. 24th St., Erie, in the upstairs multi-purpose room. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and the program runs from 6:15 to 8 p.m. The next session will be held on Monday, October 27, featuring a video presentation titled “Through a Lens Darkly: Grief, Loss and C.S. Cabrini Celebration Movie Night
Be Keepers of Hope and join Catholic Charities in celebrating the feast day of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini, patron saint of immigrants, on Thursday, November 13. The Office of Social Justice and Life will host a free screening of “Cabrini” (PG-13) from Angel Studios at 6:15 p.m. in the H. David Bowes Auditorium at Cathedral Preparatory School, 250 W. 10th St., Erie. Reservations are required due to limited seating — RSVP at https://bit.ly/CCCabrini. 40 Hours of Adoration
The Epiphany of the Lord Parish, 353 Pine St., Meadville, will host 40 Hours of Adoration beginning after the 11:30 a.m. Mass on Sunday, Oct. 19, and continuing without pause until closing and reposition at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 21. Each evening, Father Jeff Lucas will lead Evening Prayer with a homily. A reception will follow the closing in St. Agatha’s Center.
Mercer County Praise and Worship Adoration Holy Hour
Notre Dame Parish, 2325 Highland Rd., Hermitage, is hosting a Praise and Worship Holy Hour on Thursday, Oct. 23, at 7 p.m. There will be additional dates in the future, see attached flyer for more information.
Healing the Whole Person Series
St. Joseph Bread of Life Parish, 147 W 24th St., Erie, is hosting a 3 Day weekend retreat, Friday, Oct. 24, from 7-9 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 25, from 9 a.m.– 8 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 26, from 8–10:20 a.m. and Mass after. This weekend will include: 1-hour video teachings, small group discussion and journaling, as well as opportunities for confession, adoration, and prayer ministry. The cost is $50 which includes the book and meals or $25 if you already have the book. Checks may be made payable to St. Joseph Church. See attached flyer for more information.
