The Diocese of Erie Information Bulletin advertises and promotes activities and events sponsored by diocesan entities such as parishes, schools, religious communities and groups. The IB is unable to advertise or promote activities or events not sponsored by such entities. Submissions may run a maximum of two editions. The administrative offices of the diocese reserve the right to edit submissions.

Announcement Regarding the Celebration of the Immaculate Conception obligation
This year, the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, traditionally celebrated on December 8, coincides with the Second Sunday of Advent. Consequently, the observance is transferred to Monday, Dec. 9, and it remains a Holy Day of Obligation. Please refer to the attached document for further details. 2024 Catholic Campaign for Human Development
Please find attached Bishop Persico’s letter introducing the 2024 collection for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development, taken the weekend of Nov. 16-17. Parishes are asked to publicize this collection in a significant way on the weekend of Nov. 9-10.
Office for Divine Worship monthly newsletter
The Office for Divine Worship presents a monthly newsletter to aid in preparing celebrations that will occur in that particular month. The November newsletter is attached.
Deadline approaching for #iGiveCatholic registration

Teach cybersecurity with Microsoft and Minecraft education
Attention school personnel: October is Cyber Security Awareness Month. It is essential to build cybersecurity awareness skills to remain safe in a digital world for all ages. To aid in this process, Microsoft has pulled together grab-and-go resources to help teach these important skills. St. Ann Parish to host 2024 election information session
St. Ann Parish will host A Catholic Approach to Voting in the 2024 Election information session on Wednesday, Oct. 30, from 5:30-8:30 pm, in the downstairs social hall, 921 East Ave., Erie. The goal of the evening will be to achieve a well-informed conscience in preparation for making sound decisions on election day. More details are included in the attached flyer.
St. Gregory Thaumaturgus Parish spaghetti dinner
St. Gregory Thaumaturgus Parish is hosting The Great Spaghetti Feast on Sunday, Oct. 27 from 12-4 pm. Dinner will include salad, pasta, meatballs, Italian bread, dessert and a beverage. Dine in or take out from the St. Gregory Parish School gym, 140 W. Main Street, North East. The cost is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and $8 for children 12 years old and under. Purchase tickets from the parish office or at the door. There will also be a 50/50 drawing and basket raffle. A graphic suitable for parish bulletins is attached. We hope to see you there!
Seminary Discernment Weekend retreat
Any college-age young man, 18 years old or older, who is interested in learning more about the seminary, priesthood or discernment is invited to attend a Seminary Discernment Weekend retreat on Saturday, Nov. 23-24, 2024, at St. Mark Seminary in Erie. Presentation on the Four Presences of Christ in the Eucharist
The Office for Religious announces that rural ministry experiences in the Eastern Vicariate will continue this fall. On Sunday, Oct. 27, beginning at 12:15 pm, there will be a presentation titled Four Presences of Christ in the Eucharist. The event will take place at St. Eulalia Parish in Coudersport and be presented by Sister Nancy Fischer, SSJ. Registration is not necessary but is appreciated. Comfort Through Grief Ministry event
St. Joseph Bread of Life Parish, Erie, hosts Comfort Through Grief Ministry meetings every fourth Monday of each month. This month, the parish will welcome guest speaker Deb Laher, R.N., on Oct. 28 from 6:15 to 8 pm in the St. Joseph Church upstairs multipurpose room, 147 West 24th St., Erie. Doors open at 5:30 pm. Diocese of Erie seeks a payroll/AP coordinator
The Diocese of Erie is looking for an organized, dedicated and detailed candidate for the position of payroll/AP coordinator. As the payroll/AP coordinator, working under the direction of the controller, the candidate will be tasked with providing timely information and accurate record keeping in the areas of employee pensions and payroll operations for St. Mark Catholic Center, clergy and others as assigned by the Office of Financial Services. This includes processing payroll and changes to payroll for full and part-time staff; transmitting payroll information to third party service; maintaining employee payroll files; verifying receipt of pension payment for diocesan participants; validating incoming invoices; and maintaining purchasing and delivery system for organizational supplies and inventory. Admin/Parish accountant needed
St. Joseph/Bread of Life Community and Sacred Heart of Jesus partnered parishes seek an admin/parish accountant. This position will report to the pastor and finance council moderators. The position is responsible for the accounting of these partnered parishes. Functions of this position include required bookkeeping entries, report preparation, AR & AP, account reconciliation, preparation of annual financial reports and budget, and payroll processing to ensure compliance with diocesan financial requirements and parish mission standards.
