Pastors asked to urge parishioners to advocate against HHS ruling by Oct. 3
All pastors in the Diocese of Erie are asked to share the following information as widely as possible, keeping the Oct. 3 deadline in mind.

On behalf of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, Bishop Lawrence Persico asks parishioners to advocate against a recent rule proposed by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) that would prevent Catholic hospitals, clinics, assisted living facilities and health care workers from carrying out their work. The new rule does not guarantee the right of health care workers and religious facilities to conscientiously object to participating in procedures including abortion. The direct link to send a message to the HHS is https://www.votervoice.net/USCCB/Campaigns/97764/Respond. Please note the deadline for participation is Monday, Oct. 3.

For convenience, see the two-page attachment that can be distributed in parishes.

October Count starts this weekend

Click https://www.eriercd.org/October-Count.html to download the Mass Count form and instructions for submitting this year’s October Count. The deadline for submitting figures is Nov. 5, 2022. Bishop Persico has also directed parishes to continue the celebration after Mass in various ways. Some parishes are having times of adoration concluding with Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament, while others expect to hold a Eucharistic procession. Contact your local parish for details.
