The Diocese of Erie Information Bulletin advertises and promotes activities and events sponsored by diocesan entities such as parishes, schools, religious communities and groups. The IB is unable to advertise or promote activities or events not sponsored by such entities. Submissions may run a maximum of two editions. The administrative offices of the diocese reserve the right to edit submissions.

Cocktails with Clergy event scheduled in September
Join Deacons Denis Coan and Matt Ochalek, deacon assistants at Erie’s St. John the Baptist and Holy Rosary parishes, respectively, as they answer questions about our Catholic faith at a special event next month. Cocktails with Clergy will be held Sept. 14 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Cornerstone Bar and Grill, E. 38th Street and Pine Avenue, Erie. Heavy hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar will be available. A free will offering will be taken to help offset the cost of the event. A flier is attached for convenience.
St. Benedict alumnae host bingo event
All are invited to the Sept. 18 St. Benedict Academy alumnae bingo event at the Polish Falcons, 431 E. 3rd St., Erie. Doors open at noon, with bingo commencing at 1 p.m. The cost is $25 per packet. Please come with a donation of gloves, mittens and hats for children to get a free extra packet. There will be a 50/50, a $100 lottery wreath, instant bingo and other games of chance. Kitchen and bar will be open. The alumnae group donates proceeds to scholarships and the ministries of the Benedictine Sisters of Erie.
‘Stuff the Van’ event planned at St. Luke
Pick up your dinner or a snack while helping others at a GECAC Community Action event in the parking lot of St. Luke Church, 421 E. 38th St., Erie, on Sept. 21 from 4 to 8 p.m. Choose your favorite foods from several food trucks (Taste of the Herd, Lil’ Wagon, ILP Snack Shack, Outlaw Barbecue Revolution, Tariq’s Best Philly and Sticks & Bricks Woodfired Pizza) and bring a donation of new winter coats, gloves, hats and blankets to help GEGAC “Stuff the Van.” GEGAC will distribute these items to families and seniors in need of warmth. Proceeds from the sales will allow GEGAC to purchase additional clothing items for those in need in Erie County. Please direct questions to Karen Hund at Khund@gecac.org or 814-459-4581.
Meadville parish to hold informal listening sessions
The Epiphany of the Lord Parish in Meadville is conducting a free series of informal listening sessions, titled “Catholics Returning Home,” on six consecutive evenings beginning Sept. 22 at 7 p.m. at St. Brigid Church, 967 Chancery Lane, Meadville. The series is an invitation to non-practicing Catholics to renew their relationship with the Catholic Church. These listening sessions will be conducted in a support-group format, with updates on the Catholic faith. Former non-practicing Catholics or converts will facilitate the evenings. Adults welcome to view ‘Chosen’
St. Boniface, St. John the Baptist, Holy Rosary and Our Lady of Mount Carmel parishes invite all adults to attend a viewing of season 1 of “The Chosen,” at St. Boniface Church, 9367 Wattsburg Road, Erie, beginning Sept. 22 and continuing every Thursday through Nov. 10 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. “The Chosen” brings the story of Jesus to life. No matter where you are in your journey with Jesus, this study is for you! North East parish to hold revival
St. Gregory Thaumaturgus Parish, 48 South Pearl St., North East, will host Days of Eucharistic Revival (Sept. 26-28), featuring guest preacher, Father Kevin MacDonald, CSsR. On Sept. 26, there will be a Mass at 8 a.m., and an evening session (“You Satisfy the Hungry Heart … With the Word of God”), beginning at 6:30 p.m. Hospitality will be offered in the parish family room following the evening session. On Sept. 27, all are welcome to a school Mass at 9:15 a.m. and an evening session at 6:30 p.m. (“You Satisfy the Hungry Heart …With God’s Healing Mercy”). There will be a penance celebration at this evening’s event. On Sept. 28, Mass will be offered at 8 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. (“You Satisfy the Hungry Heart ... With the Gift of Finest Wheat”). Hospitality will be held in the parish family room following the 6:30 p.m. Mass.
SSJNN to host celebrity bartender event
The Sisters of St. Joseph Neighborhood Network (SSJN) is hosting a celebrity bartender fundraiser on Sept. 30 from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Nuova Aurora Club, 1518 Walnut St., Erie. Free admission, but a $10 donation is suggested. The first hour will include Sisters of St. Joseph as the celebrity bartenders There will be games of chance, live music (The Breeze Band), and a basket raffle. Snacks and light refreshments will be provided. All tips to bartenders will benefit SSJNN’s community programs.
