Health Care

Along with food, water and shelter, access to health care is a basic human right. The church considers healing a central ministry and has long fought for quality, affordable and life-affirming care, especially for the poor. For decades, the American bishops have been at the forefront of the call for genuine, life-affirming reform to the nation’s health care system.

The bishops maintain an active interest and a strong voice in the country’s ever-changing policies connected to health care. Many are intricately connected to the issues of dignity and life.
