01/22/2025
(FARRELL, PA) — Prince of Peace Center is set to launch its community service initiatives in 2025 by distributing housewarming kits to individuals and families who have previously been unsheltered or are fleeing domestic violence. These kits are generously provided by Catholic Charities, Inc. of the Diocese of Erie, of which Prince of Peace Center is an affiliate agency.

The housewarming kits contain essential items for various areas of the home. Bedroom necessities include new sheets, a comforter and pillows; kitchen essentials contain dishes, glassware, silverware, a can opener and pots and pans; and bathroom items consist of bath towels, cleaning supplies and toilet paper. In collaboration with employees from Primary Health Network, the kits will also include medicine cabinet essentials to compliment the other items. To add a personal touch, each kit will feature a “God Bless This Home” sign, helping recipients feel more settled in their new living spaces.
Erin Tubbs, Executive Director of Catholic Charities states, “When someone is unhoused, we think about the fact that they have lost their home, the roof over their head. And when they are housed again, they have a roof. But of all the little necessities of daily living, they only have what they could keep with them in a shelter or maybe store with a friend or family member. Often, they are starting from scratch. We hope these rehousing kits will help them make their fresh start on the right foot.”
Sarah Worthington, Chief Executive Officer of the Prince of Peace Center, adds, “We witness firsthand the challenges that individuals and families encounter when transitioning into housing after experiencing homelessness. We are thrilled to support our neighbors by providing them with all the essentials needed to transform their new house into a home.”
