St. Francis Xavier Knights of Columbus Complete 3rd Annual Crib Collection to Support Women’s Care Center
02/04/2025
McKean, PA — The St. Francis Xavier Knights of Columbus Council #17105 has successfully completed its 3rd Annual Crib Collection, a parish-wide initiative dedicated to supporting the Women’s Care Center and its mission to assist mothers and newborns in need.
For three weeks, a 50-year-old crib was placed at the entrance of St. Francis Xavier Church, serving as a designated collection point for baby-related donations. The initiative was introduced at all Masses during the first weekend, encouraging parishioners to contribute essential baby items such as diapers, wipes, clothing and other necessities. A list of the most requested items was also published in the parish bulletin to guide donors.
At the conclusion of the collection, all donations were carefully sorted and inventoried, resulting in over 200 individual items with a total estimated value exceeding $1,700. Contributions included diapers, baby wipes, baby outfits, toys and handmade crocheted blankets. The collected items were then delivered to the Women’s Care Center to benefit local families in need.
Additionally, through the Knights of Columbus Supreme’s Aid and Support After Pregnancy (ASAP) program, the Women’s Care Center will receive an extra $100 for every $500 donated in cash contributions, further extending the impact of this initiative.
The Women’s Care Center of Erie County, Inc. provides essential services to individuals and families facing unplanned pregnancies, supports youth in making healthy relationship decisions, offers healing assistance for women and helps childless couples longing for a child. Their services—focused on comfort, education and health—are offered in a safe, supportive environment at no cost.
The Diocese of Erie commends the St. Francis Xavier Knights of Columbus for their continued commitment to serving those in need and for their dedication to upholding the dignity of life through charitable outreach.
