Together in Mission: The Impact of the 2025 Catholic Services Appeal

02/24/2026

As the Diocese of Erie reflects on the fruits of the 2025 Catholic Services Appeal, gratitude rises for the faithful whose generosity continues to shape the life of the church across all 13 counties.

Under the theme One Faith, One Family, last year’s CSA stood as a visible witness to what is possible when parishioners unite in prayer, discipleship and service. The newly released Impact Report tells that story — not simply in numbers, but in lives strengthened and ministries sustained.

In 2025, 11,613 households participated in the CSA, offering gifts that were faithful, intentional and often sacrificial. With an average gift of $495, the diocesan goal of $4.235 million was not only reached but exceeded — allowing more than $1.2 million raised above goal to remain in parish communities.

These gifts supported the church’s mission in three profound ways.

In Prayer, the CSAl strengthened Catholic Schools and Faith Formation — forming young people and families in lifelong relationships with Christ. From confirmation retreats and youth conferences to marriage preparation and catechist training, the CSA helped form hearts grounded in faith and alive in the Gospel.

In Discipleship, support extended to clergy, sacramental life and communications. Diocesan liturgies, priest retreats and parish resources ensured the faithful remained spiritually accompanied. Through Faith magazine, digital outreach and parish communications support, the Good News reached tens of thousands — inviting deeper encounter with Christ.

In Service, the impact was felt through Catholic Charities and its affiliated ministries. More than 20,000 instances of assistance, professional counseling for over 1,000 individuals and tens of thousands of food assistance encounters revealed the church’s compassionate presence at moments of greatest need.

In his message within the Impact Report, Bishop Lawrence Persico offers heartfelt thanks to the faithful:

“Your willingness to give, to serve and to walk together in faith strengthens our diocesan family in ways that are both seen and unseen.”

His words reflect the spirit of the 2025 Catholic Services Appeal — a diocesan family united in mission, sustaining ministries that no parish could accomplish alone.

As we give thanks for what has been made possible, the church now looks ahead with hope.

The 2026 Catholic Services Appeal invites the faithful to continue this shared witness under a new theme:

In Christ, We Are One

Encounter Christ · Live Christ · Share Christ

Rooted in unity, this year’s Appeal calls the faithful to encounter Christ in the sacraments, live His love through formation and discipleship, and share His mercy in service to others.

In his message introducing the new campaign, Bishop Persico reminds us:

“Our theme… reminds us of who we are called to be as a church. We are people who encounter Christ, live the Gospel and share His love with others.”

This sacred work continues through every parish, school and ministry across the Diocese of Erie — sustained by prayer and generosity.
